Football 

Learn flag football fundamentals. Use skills from throwing and catching. Understand rules of the game. 

Playing catch, flag tag, flag football games, falcon ball 

September/October 

Volleyball 

Learn volleyball fundamentals. Use hand-eye coordination skills. Understand rotations, bump, set & hit basics. 

Partner drills, 2-on-2 challenges, big ball volleyball games 

Fall Break 

October 

Kickball 

Learn kickball fundamentals. Understand strategy and teamwork. 

Kickball games, 7-on-7 games, “Base”ketball 

November 

Team Handball 

Learn team handball fundamentals. Dribble, pass and throw. Understand ball movement and shooting/throwing range. 

Dribbling skills, passing skills, relay races, team handball games 

December 

Soccer 

Learn soccer fundamentals. Use foot-eye coordination to kick the ball properly. Understand the importance of positioning and anticipation. 

Passing with partners, dribbling relays, soccer games 

Winter Break 

January 

Bowling 

Learn bowling fundamentals. Understand how to score a game. 

Bowling, pin challenges, computing bowling scores 

January/ February 

Athletic Field Day 

Prepare students for AFD events. Events to be practiced during P.E. classes. 

Relay race, long jump, tug-of-war, etc. 

February/ March 

Basketball 

Learn basketball fundamentals. Applying skills and rules of team handball to learn to play basketball. Understand triple threat and defensive positioning. 

Dribbling skills, passing skills, relay races, 3-on-3, stationary zone defenses, 5-on-5 games 

Spring Break 

March/ April 

Team Building 

Learn to rely on others through perseverance. Apply team skills to physical challenges. 

Exercise stations, capture the flag, physical fitness challenges 

April/May 

Pillow Polo/ 

Floor Hockey 

Learn floor hockey fundamentals. Understand stick handling, passing and safety. Use spacing strategies from previous units. 

Stickhandling drills, passing drills, shooting drills, relay races, pillow polo games 

May 

Baseball 

Learn baseball fundamentals. Apply kickball strategies to baseball. Understand rules, base running and game strategies. 

Throw and catch, batting practice, T-ball and wiffle ball games.
